The football career of former Nigeria U23 captain,Okechukwu Azubuike got a boost yesterday when he won the Super League title with Basaksehir of Turkey. The team was awarded champion of the league after they beat Kayserispor 1-0 on Sunday.
He is the fifth Nigerian to win the Turkish Super Lig.Other Nigerians that have won the tittle includes Henry Onyekuru with Galatasaray of Turkey. Others are Uche Okechukwu,Emmanuel Emenike and former captain of the Super Eagles who all played for Fenerbahce.
Istanbul Basaksehir have ammassed 69 points, while second place Trabzonspor have 62 points, going into the final games of the season.
According to a reliable Nigeria Newspaper,The Punch, Istanbul Basaksehir have offered Okechukwu a deal to remain in the Turkish club.Okechukwu is currently on loan from Egyptian club Pyramids.
Azubuike Okechukwu was born on the 19th of April, 1997 in Katsina,Northern,Nigeria.He has played for Nigeria Football club Bayelsa United before plying his trade abroad.
