The dream of having the first Nigerian and African highest goal scorer in Europe this season is a far cry. Nigerian latest discovery, Paul Onuachu is among the top players jostling for the Golden Boot in Europe. Onuachu who has scored twenty-seven goals is having a solitary match to end the season. The match which is an away match to SV Zulte Waregem will hold on the 18th of April. The dream of winning the Golden Boot is a tall one for Onuachu because his rival, Robert Lewandowski is home and dry having scored thirty-five goals. The Polish-born player who is currently playing Bayern Munich is also having a couple of matches to end the season.
The former Borrusia Dortmund striker has scored against all the Bundesliga sides in this season after day twenty-eight. The remaining fixtures of Bayern Munich are against VFL Wolfsburg, Bayern Leverkusen, 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Borrusia Monchengladbach. Others are SC Freiburg and FC Augsburg.
It is an unassailable lead because, in a game of soccer, goals are not trickling in like basketball. The possibility of scoring at least eight goals to surpass Lewandowski's goal in one game is a far cry and besides the Polish player is still having six games to end the season.
Others in the race are:
Cristiano Ronaldo (25 goals), Andre Silva/Lionel Messi (23 goals) and the trio of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Romelu Lukaku with 21 goals each. Luis Suarez is on the bottom of the top 10 list with 19 goals. Onuachu is also at par with Kasper Junker who has bagged twenty-seven goals for Bodo/Glimt in the Eliteserien
