Nigerian Footballer Diagnosed With A Heart Condition After Joining Top European Club This Summer

Nnamdi Ofoborh joined Rangers FC to kick off his senior career in style but the Nigerian midfielder will be missing in action for a period of time.

The 21-year-old was said to have been diagnosed with a heart condition and this will stall his football development in the coming months, hopefully, not years.

He recently joined The Gers from Bournemouth as a free agent but before he could kick a ball for the Scottish champions, scan revealed he will need to take care of his heart condition.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerard confirmed the development after his side’s 2-2 draw against Premier League giants Arsenal earlier this weekend at Ibrox Stadium.

Ofoborh represented the Nigerian U20 national team at the FIFA World Cup tournament staged in Poland where he scored two goals in three appearances.

The midfield star made his debut after coming on as a substitute in his side’s 4-0 triumph over their Qatari counterpart.

Gerard expressed his disappointment at the development but insisted that he will have to manage the situation as the player’s health is way more important than any other thing.

A few weeks back, Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen survived a death scare after collapsing during Euro 2020 opening game against Finland and that was his last game in the tourney.

Ofoborh was named Bournemouth’s U-21 Player of the Year in 2018, while also clinching Wycombe Wanderers Goal of the Season at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
