Can Ronaldo reach 1000 career goals before he retires from football?

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a first-half hat-trick at Damac as Al Nassr stormed towards the top of the Saudi Pro League table with a 3-0 victory over Damac away from home. Ronaldo opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 18 minutes and soon took his tally to seven in five games in Saudi Arabia's top flight. Kresimir Rezic's Damac are without a win in three matches and Ronaldo compounded their misery a minute before halftime when he crowned a sweeping counter-attack to claim the matchball.

For context, the Portuguese superstar has now bagged eight goals since his sensational move to Riyadh following his contract termination at Manchester United late last year. Three goals against Damac took his overall goal tally to 827 and counting. Ronaldo who recently turned 38 year old has refused to call time on his illustrious career despite a difficult last couple of months for him. Presently, he is the most prolific player in world football and with 62 career hat-tricks already to his name, he is in a league of his own. However, the big question remains whether the five time Ballon d'or winner can hit 1000 career goals before he calls it quit.

As it stands, Ronaldo will need 173 more strikes in order to reach the 1000 goal mark. He has a contract with Al Nassr that will run until January 2025 and by that time, he would be almost 40 years of age. Take nothing away from his prolificacy, the records do follow him like he once said, and if he keeps his scoring rate going, he could yet attain what no player in world football has ever attained. There's no reason to rule out 1000 career goals for Cristiano Ronaldo
