Former Chelsea football club of England star Gary Cahill has broken a new record after scoring a winning goal for Roy Hodgson led Crystal Palace on Tuesday night, in their 2-1 away victory over Steve Bruce's Newcastle United at Saint James' Park.
The England international who has been outstanding for the Eagles since the beginning of the season was given another starting role by coach Roy Hodgson, and he was able to marked his excellent performance for the club with a fine goal.
Former Liverpool star Jonjo Shelvy opened scoring for the home team in the 2nd minutes after receiving an assist from Callum Wilson.
Jairo Riedewald equalized for the away team in the 21st minutes to make the scores 1-1, before former Chelsea star Gary Cahill scored a beautiful goal in the 25th minutes to give the away team the deserved victory, through an assist from Nigerian Eberechi Eze, as the match ended 2-1 in favour of Roy Hodgson's men.
With Gary Cahill's winning goal against Newcastle United, it means he has broken a new record.
"35 years old and 45 days, Gary Cahill has become Crystal Palace's oldest ever goalscorer in the Premier League, with this his first goal in the competition since April 2017 for Chelsea against Everton."
Gary Cahill has also reached 50 career goals for club and country, his first senior goal came over 16 years ago, for Burnley against Stoke in January 2005
