Chelsea team news
Antonio Rudiger missed the game against Brentford due to the back injury he sustained during the international break with Germany and he still expected to miss this game. Christian Pulisic is still nursing an hamstring injury, and Hakim Ziyech is suffering an illness.
Below is how Thomas Tuchel could set up his team for this encounter.
Goalkeeper & Defenders
Edouard Mendy (GK)
Mendy was incredible against Brentford making vital saves to help Chelsea secure all three points. The keeper deserves to keep his place and should start ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
César Azpilicueta (CB)
The skipper started the last game from the right wing-back but with Reece James possibly coming into the team, Azpilicueta could start in the back three
Thiago Silva (CB)
Silva missed the Brentford game after returning late from international duty with Brazil but the Brazilian could start this game which could see Christensen drop to the bench.
Malang Sarr (CB)
Antonio Rudiger is back in training but he's not expected to start this game. Sarr put in an impressive performance against Brentford and deserves to cover again for Rudiger.
Reece James (RM)
James was a late substitute against Brentford but the England international could make his first start since injuring his ankle against Manchester City. His creativity and work rate will be indispensable.
Mateo Kovacic (CM)
The Croatian wasn't entirely convincing against Brentford but could yet start this game with N'Golo Kante dropping to the bench to get a rest
Jorginho played only 17 minutes against Southampton but sat out the win against Brentford. The Italian might start in this game.
Marcos Alonso (LM)
Ben Chilwell deserves to start after scoring in the last two matches but Marcos Alonso could start this game to Ben Chilwell a rest.
Mason Mount (AM)
Mount's urgency in the press was missing against Juventus, so Tuchel won't want to be without him this time.
Kai Havertz (AM)
Havertz have lost his place in the starting lineup after some underwhelming performances. He might get a chance to start this game.
Romelu Lukaku (ST)
After starting the season in solid form Lukaku has failed to score in his last four starts. The Belgian will look to get back to scoring form against the Swedish side.
