The Blues took another big step under Ex-PSG Boss Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea saw off Spanish La Liga Leaders Atletico Madrid 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to cruise into the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Morocco Midfieder, Hakim Ziyech’s first-half goal and also an added-time strike from Italy defender Emerson Palmieri were more than enough for the Blues to seal a deserved win on the night - and the match overall - with Spanish outfit rarely troubling Tuchel’s backline over the 180 minutes.

The Blues headed into the 2nd leg of the round-of-sixteen tie ahead thanks to France international Olivier Giroud’s stunning overhead kick in Bucharest, leaving Diego Simeone's men with it all to do at Stamford Bridge.

Athletico Madrid felt they should've been given a spot kick that could have changed the complexion of the match early on, but the Referee Daniele Orsato deemed that Cesar Azpilicueta’s challenge on Belgium attacker Yannick Carrasco wasn't worth of a penalty.

Atletico Madrid were left to rue that decision as the Blues soon broke the deadlock, with Hakim Ziyech tapping home a lightning counter attack to put the Blues 1-0 up.

The Morocco Midfieder scored from German forward Werner’s cross.

Emerson Palmieri added the second with a stunning left footed shot.
