Betting tips and predictions for St Johnstone vs Celtic

After ending their six-game unbeaten streak last week with a defeat to Livingston, St Johnstone went back to winning ways over the weekend as they narrowly beat Kilmarnock 2-1, pushing the club further up the table and away from the relegation zone.

The Saints’ home form is also impressive, as they’ve only lost once in their last seven home ties. However, the Perth side have also struggled to score goals, only netting more than once on two occasions, averaging a goal per game. St Johnstone is also the third-highest conceding side in the league at home, letting in 17 goals in 11 games and keeping a clean sheet just twice.

Celtic made it three wins from three on Saturday when they comfortably beat Ross County 3-0 at Celtic Park, after Odsonne Édouard’s instant impact sealed the game for the hosts. The Hoops continue to hold top spot in the league over Rangers and are on a five-game winning streak on the road.

Neil Lennon’s side have also been devastating in attack and are the second-highest-scoring team away from home, netting 24 times in 10 games – an average of 2.4 goals – and failing to score just once. But Celtic still haven’t managed to completely paint over the cracks in defence, as they’ve conceded at least once in five of their last seven away days.

Celtic come into this game as clear favourites, as they’ve won their last five away fixtures; St Johnstone have only won one of their last five games at McDiarmid Park. However, the visitors have been sloppy in defence on the road, failing to keep a clean sheet in three of their last four away days.

The Saints have netted at least once in six of their last seven home ties, which is why we’re backing Celtic to win and both teams to score.

Betting tips: Celtic to win. Both teams to score. Over 2.5 goals
