This is one El Clasico were much was not expected from both teams considering their inconsistency and lost of major players during the summer. However, Madrid deserve some accolades for giving a good account of themselves against Barca.

1. Memphis Depay selfishness

There is no doubt that Depay has been one of the shinning light of this current gloomy Barca team. However, it is high time Ronald Koeman starts drumming it into his ears that he should stop playing to the gallery most of the time. Depay unnecessary holding on to the ball led to Los Blancos first goal.

2. Barca upcoming young players lack good coaching

Barca right now is brimming with rough diamonds that need meticulous polishing by experienced coach who knows how to develop raw talents into world class stars. It was obvious that the natural talents of the likes of Ansu Fati, Gavi and, Pedri need serious brushing up.

Barca's young starlets lack of experience were there undoing against Madrid on Sunday.

3. Barca's midfield lacked the strength to stop Madrid counter attacks

Barcelona midfield were caught flat footed on several occasions each time Los Blancos launched their counter attack. Sergio Busquets hard work could only count for little as his teammates continue to give away the ball with Frankie De Jong being the most culpable.

For Barca to achieve anything going forward this season, there is need for the club authority to take a decisive action on who would coach these young guns into future bazookas that would shock and awe the football world.
