The UCL Might Be A More Realistic Target For Manchester United Than The Premier League

When talking about football competitions, it doesn’t get much bigger than the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United are currently under an immense amount of pressure to win basically anything. They have already crashed out of the Carabao cup so it’s now one down, 3 to go.

Manchester United are also look increasingly unlikely to compete for the EPL title as they continue to look more inconsistent week after week. A wise move for United might be to make the UCL their priority based on this analysis:

UCL As An Easier Target For United

Manchester United recorded their 2nd UCL win of the season and as usual, they didn't make things easy for themselves. They were losing 2:0 at half time.

Manchester United did a trademark comeback in the second half and stole all 3 points against Atalanta. These 3 points were very vital because it improves Manchester United's confidence of qualifying from their group.

Despite their horrible defending, Manchester United's attack came through. Ronaldo sealed all 3 points with his impressive header after Rashford and Harry Maguire Equalizer.

Looking at what is involved in both competitions, it can be said that the EPL title is more difficult to win than the UCL at the moment especially for a team as inconsistent as Manchester United.

The EPL requires a huge amount of consistency throughout the season. The sad reality for Manchester United is that they are looking unlikely to maintain the required amount of consistency to be top contenders for the league.

As for the UCL, a lot of factors are involved. Manchester United can count themselves lucky with their group because it seems that the other teams are just as inconsistent as the Red Devils.

If Manchester United manage to get past the group stage, their progress then depends on the draws. A favorable run of draws can boost Manchester United’s chances of winning the competition.

United Can Take A Tip From Chelsea's Play Book

If they choose to do it, United won't be the first team to prioritise the UCL title over any other competition. Chelsea impressively won the UCL last season but finished 4th in the league.

Manchester United currently find themselves in a similar predicament with little or no hope of winning the EPL when taking their performances and consistency into consideration.

Don't forget that Manchester United currently have the quality to beat any team in Europe. With Ronaldo's (Mr Champions League) arrival and other impressive signings, their UCL chances obviously went up a notch.
