See The Former Bayelsa United Midfielder Who Made History With Istanbul Başakşehir In Turkish League

Nigerian Olympic bronze medal winning midfielder, Azubuike Okechukwu has won the Turkish top flight with his Istanbul Başakşehir side for the first time in their history. 

Istanbul Başakşehir won the league after defeating Kayserispor by a goal to nil courtesy a goal from Tekdemir in the 19th minute of the final game of the week season at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium, although Azubuike Okechukwu was not listed for the encounter.

Istanbul Başakşehir ammased 69 points from 33 games scoring 63 goals in the process, while also conceeeding 31 goals. 

The 23 year-old previously played for Bayelsa United, his currently on loan with Turkish side, Istanbul Başakşehir from Egyptian club side Pyramids FC. 

Azubuike was an integral part of the Nigerian football team that won a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic football men's competition. 

İstanbul Başakşehir Futbol Kulübü is a Turkish professional football club based in the Başakşehir district of Istanbul. The club is better known as İstanbul Başakşehir or, due to sponsorship, Medipol Başakşehir. The club was founded in 1990 as İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor.
