These players performed really well in the competition to be considered for the team of the tournament.
However, there are three players who deserved to get into that team but they were not included. The players in question were excellent for their respective countries and in my opinion, their omissions from the best XI was unfair to them.
Meet the three players here...
1. Giorgio Chiellini (Italy)
After finishing the tournament as champions, the Italian national team deserve all the credit they are getting. They have five players in the team of the tournament but could they have had one more?

36 year old Chiellini was one half of the Italian defence that was so solid throughout the campaign. His partner Bonucci deserves his place in the team because he contributed a goal and was named Man of the match in the final against England. However, Chiellini should have also gotten a spot in the team.
In my opinion, he should at least have made the lineup ahead of Harry Maguire because his contributions for his country surpassed that of the Manchester United defender.
2. Christiano Ronaldo (Portugal)
Portugal's captain produced one of the best individual performances at the Euros but he was still exempted from the team of the tournament.
He scored in all but one of his team's matches, bowing out with 6 goal contributions in just 4 matches (5 goals and 1 assist).

The Juventus forward finished as the competition's top scorer and was given the golden boot award for his efforts. Even at that, he was surprisingly left out of the team.
In my opinion, he should have been selected ahead of Belgium's Romelu Lukaku in attack. He played one game less than Lukaku but still managed to outscore him.
3. Patrik Schick (Czech Republic)
Even Patrik Schick of Czech Republic deserves a place in the team more than Lukaku, because he had more goals than him, even when they played the same amount of games.
The 25 year old striker was a powerhouse for his country throughout their stay in the tournament, scoring 5 goals in as many matches for them.
The highlight of his tournament was his goal from the halfway line in their group stage match against Scotland.
