Thomas Tuchel explains Mason Mount's role at Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel has cleared all doubts surrounding Mason Mount's position and role in the Chelsea system and explained why the 22 year old is a key player to his team. Mount has somehow struggled to replicate the form he finished with last season but Tuchel says it's just a rough patch that will soon be over.

Mount scored an hattrick yesterday in Chelsea's 7:0 demolition of 20th placed Norwich City and earned himself the match ball as well as the man of the match award. The English man also got an assist in the game to put the results beyond doubt. Mason Mount has now scored the most goals amongst Chelsea players since Tuchel arrived the club in January.

Thomas Tuchel explains Mason Mount's role: "We play most games with three strikers and Mason is one of them. Maybe Mason is between an eight and a ten, so not a real striker, so we depend heavily on him. He plays a key role and you never know."

Thomas Tuchel: "The wing-backs arrive with freedom and new positions to give us strikers in the last line where they feel more confident. We want to depend on Mason because we like his style and personality. He is a top player and a top guy."
