In this article, we'll be looking at how the defenders of these teams have fared so far this season.

Chelsea Football Club

Thomas Tuchel is a fan of the Three-at-the-back defensive setup. The defensive composition the German tactician has used for most of the season so far is the trio of Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Trevor Chalobah with Edouard Mendy in goal.

So far this season, Chelsea is the team that has conceded fewer goals. Their defense has only been breached thrice in 8 games in the league so far.

What this shows is that Chelsea's backline is very solid.

Performances rating: 85%

Liverpool Football Club

Jurgen Klopp usually plays with a 4-3-3 formation. As such, he has 4 defenders at the back.

Liverpool's backline comprises Virgil Van Dijk and Matip as central defenders with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson as full-backs with Alisson in goal.

Liverpool's backline has conceded 6 goals in 8 matches so far this season. What this shows is that their defense is leaky.

The game against Brentford which ended in 3-3 is an indication of how leaky their defense is. As such, Jurgen Klopp should do more to improve his team's backline.

Performances rating: 60%

Manchester City

So far this season, the defenders Pep Guardiola has used the most this season are Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, Kyle Walker, and Joao Cancelo.

Pep Guardiola's men at the back have also been very impressive so far this season. They've conceded just 3 goals so far in the league (1 goal against Tottenham and 2 goals against Liverpool)

This is quite an impressive stat as far as their defense is concerned.

Performances rating:85%
