Why Nathan Ake Deserves A Lot Of Credit For Playing, Days After His Father’s Death

Losing a parent is one of the most painful things on earth. Nathan Ake, a Manchester City defender, lost his father on Wednesday night, just minutes after the team's game against RB Leipzig in the Uefa Champions League.

His father, Moise Ake, was believed to be suffering from a terminal illness. Ake announced the sad news on his Instagram story shortly after the game, promising to continue making his late father proud.

72 hours after the incident, Ake was named in Manchester City's line-up against Southampton and the Dutchman produced a fine display despite the pain he is currently going through.

Footballers who have lost their parents have had to take some time off the pitch to bear the loss, but Ake showed great mental strength to be on the pitch today and deserves a lot of Credit.

Wherever his late father is, it is certain that he will be proud of Ake and will wear a huge smile on his face today.
