Stat Highlights Why Man United Are Far Away From Challenging For The Premier League

Saturday’s early Premier League match played out a short time ago. Manchester United would play Everton at Old Trafford in the said match. The Red Devils came into the game aiming to bounce back a 1-0 setback to Dean Smith Aston Villa the previous Saturday. Everton, meanwhile, was up against their most difficult test of the Rafa Benitez era so far.

When everything was said and done on Saturday, though, Rafa Benitez's side were likely the happier of the two teams. The first 45 minutes was rather unremarkable, with Anthony Martial's curling attempt giving Manchester United the lead:

The hosts were unable to add to their goal count despite bringing on all of Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba, and Jadon Sancho in the second half. And when the Toffees broke and ultimately levelled through Andros Townsend.

Man United nearing unwanted record

Following that goal, an alarming statistic has surfaced.

According to Opta, Manchester United have conceded at least once in each of their past nine league games at the Threatre of Dreams, their longest streak of games without a clean sheet in the Premier League since February 1971:

The big teams that win the title have a fantastic defensive record 99.9% of the time, both at home and away, but especially at home.

Manchester United, on the other hand, is certainly far from having a solid defence and, as a result, far from being able to seriously contend for the Premier League, as seen by the above statistic.

The Manchester based outfit will be be looking to bounce back against Leicester City after the international break, the next few games could decide the Norwegian tactician future, with Cristiano Ronaldo looking frustrated and unimpressed at full-time.
