Of recent, the club has been struggling. This all started after the departure of Sir. Alex Ferguson. They have not won the English Premier League since he left. The Red Devils have also been unable to come up to a perfect stage in the UEFA Champions League.
After a series of unexpected poor performances by the club both in the English Premier League and other Leagues, one can say that the club is in a current and gradual decline. This was not supposed to be the case, as expected by United fans after their star man “Cristiano Ronaldo” returned to Old Trafford.
His return debut was marked with two goals. The subsequent matches have not been so good. Some losses recorded after then includes the loss against Young Boys in the UCL and the loss against Leicester city in the EPL (to mention just few).
Does this mean that the club can no longer measure up to high standards like in the past? This can actually be laid on the manager. The current manager of the club, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has not had the best of times as United boss.
At this point, one would wonder why the club still has Ole as their manager. He has not been able to win any trophy since he became head coach.
He actually became the head coach after he displayed an almost perfect show after José Mourinho was sacked in 2018/19.
The closest he has taken the club to winning a title was in the finals of the past Europa League. However, the club lost the match after the longest ever penalty shoot out in the history of UEFA Europa League final was played.
When compared to the man he replaced, Mourinho has three titles to his name, while Ole has none. Ole was able to sign Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo into the United team.
With the players in Manchester United at the moment, one would believe that the team would formidable,, but the reverse is the case.
The problem might not be the players but the man managing their affairs. He has been head coach for three years and has nothing to show for it. The club managed to finish second in the English Premier League last season.
Their last match in the EPL was a defeat as their away record was lost when they lost 4-2 to Leicester City. In their UCL match yesterday against Atalanta, they went down by two goals before coming back to win 3-2.
Some United fans are dissatisfied as they believe United has been performing poorly and has been lucky several times.
Is this the end of Ole’s stay at the club?
Should the Red Devil seek redemption under a new manager?
