Manchester United had a buzzing summer transfer window. The Red Devils completed the signings of several players, especially on transfer deadline day as they bid to compete in the Premier League this season.
However, the Old Trafford side have endured a difficult start to the Premier League this season and have conceded 11 goals in just three matches.
Manchester United failed to bring in a new centre-back in the just concluded summer transfer window as they were linked with moves for RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano and Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly.
And now, if reports are anything to go by, then they are interested in signing Burnley defender James Tarkowski next summer in order to fix their defensive issues.
Manchester United's defence have received a lot of criticism this season, despite only playing three Premier League matches.
The Red Devils conceded three goals in their first game against Crystal Palace, two goals against Brighton and six goals in their most recent match against Tottenham Hotspur.
That poor defensive record has led to United legends to call on their former club to sign a centre-back next summer.
And accoding to reports from The Athletic via Daily Express, James Tarkowski is one player that United chiefs are looking at, alongside Dayot Upamecano and Kalidou Koulibaly.
The 27-year-old England International was linked with a move away from Burnley during the summer transfer window, with Leicester City and West Ham interested.
However, Burnley rejected a bid worth up to £31m for the defender from the two interested parties.
Reports claimed that Burnley value James Tarkowski at £50million and Manchester United will be keen on signing the experienced defender next summer.
