Chelsea football club will be hoping to recuperate back to their winning streak on their game against Southampton this weekend, after losing two consecutive games in the English premier league and UEFA champions league last weekend and on Wednesday respectively.
Chelsea football club lost to Manchester City in a 1-0 scoreline at Stamford Bridge and also lost to Juventus in the same 1-0 scoreline in Turin. It was really a poor performance for Chelsea's attackers as they recorded no shot against Manchester City and one shot against Juventus making it one shot in two games.
The duo left and right wing-attackers that paired up with Lukaku upfront in both games underperformed as they never rained havoc on the opponent's defense, rather they were not confident enough to display dribbling skills. Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic are not yet fully fit and this will spell worry to Chelsea football club's head coach, Thomas Tuchel in his choice of players that will feature with Lukaku upfront and in the game against Southampton, as the trio of Werner, Havertz and Ziyech are not really performing on their top level.
However, Tuchel could try out pairing Lukaku with these two Chelsea players in the front-lineup, whom I believe could help Lukaku to perform very well.
1. Ross Barkley:
The England midfielder like his compatriot Mason Mount can strike at any range relative to the little chance he creates for firing shots. His strikers from the wing position is of huge advantage to Lukaku and the squad, as Barkley could score from those strikes or Lukaku might easily slot in any shot that the Southampton goalkeeper might wrongly vomit before him(Lukaku).
2. Mateo Kovacic:
Tuchel can decide to deploy Mateo Kovacic to the wing position where his dribbles and decisive passes can yield to goals, while Loftus-Cheek and Jorginho hold up the midfield position. The midfield position is not much of a trouble to the Chelsea squad. Kovacic can create many chances and assists for Romelu Lukaku to score goals with his swift moves and passes.
