Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City side are in talks to sign former Chelsea player, Nathan Ake in a sensational swoop, Sporting site Goal.com has revealed.
Chelsea were previously tipped to make a move to resign the former defender whom they maintain a £40million buy back clause on but are now said to be uninterested in the deal, particularly as they do not believe Ake is currently worth such a huge amount of money, and would instead try to secure a move for Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly.
It is being reported that Bournemouth would sanction the sale of the highly rated defender should Manchester City fork out approximately £35million plus add ons for the Netherland star. Although Ake predominantly plays as a central defender, he has also been deployed as a left back and could bolster Pep Guardiola's team going into the 2021/2022 season. Sources at Manchester state that Guardiola holds Nathan Ake in high regards and has been vocal in his commendation of Ake whom he has been praised for his versatility of being able to play at both full back, centre back and in defensive midfield, which has been attributed to a good work ethic, professionalism and gifted technique. Nathan Ake's calmness on the ball and appearance have led to comparisons to former Dutch legend and Chelsea player Ruud Gullit.
With Manchester City's UEFA Champions League ban overturned for next season, and the departure of winger Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich and David Silva from the team, the former EPL Champions are set to improve their squad with replacements being sort in attack, midfield and defence.
