OPINION: Why Chelsea Has No Reason To Fear Any Opponent In Their Attempt To Defend The UCL Title

Thomas Tuchel's greatest achievement as a Chelsea manager is winning the UEFA Champions League trophy with a squad that Ex-Chelsea manager Frank Lampard struggled with. This season, the blues have embarked on their aim to defend the UCL title with success so far.

Having won three out of four matches played so far in the UEFA Champions League group stages, Chelsea sits second in the Group H table with 9 points while Juventus top the group with 12 points. Tougher games lay in wait for the blues with so many strong teams around Europe.

Paris St Germain (PSG) has assembled a formidable team in an attempt to win the Champions League trophy by adding the likes of world superstar Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma to an already star-studded line-up which consists of Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe.

Bayern Munich is always a dangerous opponent with Chelsea suffering a 7-1 defeat in their last encounter. Despite their various degrees of struggles, Barcelona and Real Madrid are formidable opponents and are capable of beating any team on their day.

Liverpool is also among the favourites to win the Champions League and Jürgen Klopp is certainly a world-renowned manager that is capable of beating any team around Europe. Not to forget Manchester City who lost to the blues in last season's Champions League final have strengthened their squad by adding English midfielder Jack Grealish for 100 million pounds.

The likes of Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund are also capable of causing an upset to any big team. But despite the strength these teams possess, Chelsea has no reason to fear any opponent in their attempt to defend their UEFA Champions League title.

The blues are the defending champion and are also doing extremely well in the Premier League, any team drawn to face them would have to deal with the psychological effect of playing the UCL defending champion.

The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Ngolo Kante and Mason Mount have struggled with injuries in this early stage of the season and are quite likely to reach full fitness by the time the UEFA Champions League knockout stages come around.

Thomas Tuchel is also one of the best tactical managers around and has proven that he can adapt to any situation. For these reasons, Chelsea has no reason to fear any opponent.
