These guys have adjusted well to their new surroundings and are off to a solid start.
The summer transfer window of 2021 generated more hype than any other in recent memory. Many top footballers moved to new teams over the summer months, resulting in some of the most bizarre transfers in the game's history.
The activity was intense and engrossed everyone for the entire two months. The teams appeared to be settled and bolstered. The footballers have also enjoyed a good start for their respective new teams now that the season is two months old. Some have adjusted to their new surroundings like a duck to water, while others have made new memories in their former haunts.
However, let's take a look at the top 7 newly-signed footballers who have excelled at their new clubs:
Cristiano Ronaldo made a spectacular return to Manchester United from Juventus, arguably the transfer of the summer. He's one of the footballers who's had a promising start at a new club. For the Old Trafford-based club, the Portuguese have been a huge source of goals and motivation.
Despite the team's hit-or-miss start to the season, Ronaldo has been a consistent goal scorer. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has already scored five goals in six games for the Red Devils in all competitions. It included a brace on his United second debut against Newcastle United in the Premier League and a late goal in a Champions League last-gasp thriller against Villarreal.
Ronaldo has displayed hints of his prolific best despite returning to his figurative 'home' after 12 years and closing in on 37.
2. Achraf Hakimi
Inter's loss was PSG's gain, as the French champions paid close to €60 million for Achraf Hakimi. So far, Hakimi's performances have proven that the money was wisely spent.
With some thrilling performances so far, the high-flying Moroccan has set the stage alight at the Parc des Princes. In just eight league games, Hakimi has already scored three goals and assisted on two others. PSG has started the league season with a 100 percent winning record thanks to his efforts. As a result, among all of PSG's star-studded arrivals, Hakimi's is certain to rank near the top due to his longevity, value, and the fact that he can improve on his amazing start for Les Parisiens.
3. Edin Dzeko
Since joining Inter Milan from Roma, the veteran Bosnian has had a strong start. In his first seven Serie A outings with the Nerazzurri, Dzeko has scored six goals. He is presently leading the race for the Capocannoniere, which is given to the top scorer in Serie A.
Dzeko has done an excellent job of filling the vacuum left by Romelu Lukaku. He's formed an intimidating partnership with Lautaro Martinez and thrived in Simone Inzaghi's possession-based 3-5-2 style.
The veteran striker will try to keep up his excellent form. His move to Inter, on the other hand, appears to be one of the most under-appreciated transfers of the summer.
4. Tammy Abraham
Tammy Abraham is another Serie A player who has settled in successfully at a new club. Abraham joined AS Roma from Chelsea and has immediately established himself as a key member of the Giallorossi side.
The Englishman has made a great start in Rome. In nine appearances in all competitions, Abraham has scored four goals and contributed two assists. Abraham's anticipated goals+assists ratio of 0.72/game this season is higher than any other Chelsea forward.
Tammy's xG rate of three is the highest among Chelsea's strikers. The former Swansea City striker has also demonstrated his defensive ability, with 71 percent of his tackles being successful. Jose Mourinho's experience will be extremely beneficial to Abraham. If he maintains his current form, he has the potential to develop into one of the continent's most versatile forwards and lead Roma to even greater success.
5. Brahim Diaz
Milan's management of Calhanoglu's departure was aided by Brahim Diaz. The nimble Spaniard came on a second loan term from Real Madrid, this time for two years.
Last season, Diaz was a bright spot for Milan, but this season he has gone one better. In Milan's first six league games, the 22-year-old has three goals and one assist (highest in the squad). He has contributed significantly to AC Milan's good start to the season (third in Serie A currently). Diaz may certainly help Milan improve on their second-place finish last season if he maintains his impressive start.
6. Hakan Calhanoglu
Calhanoglu took the heinous decision to switch from AC Milan to Inter during the summer transfer window. Worse, the Turkish international signed a free transfer with the Rossoneri's greatest rivals.
What's more, what's even worse? Calhanoglu has had an excellent start for the defending Serie A winners, scoring a goal and assisting on two occasions in just six Serie A appearances.
With fellow newcomers Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa (both from Lazio) and Lautaro Martinez, the midfielder has developed a strong partnership. Inter's new season has gotten off to a great start thanks to the quartet. Inter's summer exodus of Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi, and Antonio Conte, as well as the ensuing sorrow, might soon be a thing of the past if they build on this start, as does Hakan.
7. Eduardo Camavinga
Eduardo Camavinga's long summer of speculation came to an end with a dream transfer from Stade Rennais to Real Madrid. The prodigal French talent has found a home among the glitzy lights of Spain's capital.
Camavinga scored his first goal for Real in a 5-2 rout of Celta Vigo. He then helped Rodrygo score the game-winning goal in Madrid's Champions League opener against Inter Milan. Eduardo Camavinga has injected new life into Madrid's midfield. His signing, together with that of Fede Valverde, portends a bright future for Real Madrid's midfield and the squad as a whole.
