Jesse Lingard could move on loan to Everton with a mandatory purchase option included

Jesse Lingard, a midfielder for Manchester United, is expected to join Premier League team Everton in January.

Lingard has been used from the bench in recent games after returning from an excellent loan spell at West Ham United, and it is doubtful that he will restore his starting spot.

During the summer, the London club was interested in purchasing the England international, but negotiations fell through due to a disparity in valuations.

Despite all of his outings coming after half-time, he has made an impact in the most of his games this season, scoring twice in four league appearances.

The 28-year-old is now under contract until the end of the season, with negotiations currently at a halt.

Everton have set their eyes on getting Lingard in the January transfer window, according to Football Insider.

The Merseysiders are seeking for a striker to replace Gylfi Sigurdsson and James Rodriguez, and are looking for an offensive midfielder who can contribute to goals.

Lingard scored nine goals in 16 games during his previous loan stay with the Hammers, helping them secure European football.

According to Football Insider, Everton manager Rafa Benitez is a fan of the Englishman, according to a source at the club.

Everton could loan Lingard and then sign him on a free transfer in the summer if he does not renew his deal with United. If he re-signs for United, a loan contract with a mandatory or optional buy option might be negotiated.

In terms of Everton and Lingard's styles, it appears to be a marriage made in heaven, but the club didn't have a large transfer budget during the summer and it appears unlikely that they will in January.

United will be aiming to sell players like Lingard who are unwilling to extend their contracts beyond this season in the coming months, but this will be difficult in the current climate.
