WWE Superstars Who Could Be Alexa Bliss' Mystery Guest On SmackDown

WWE has announced that Alexa Bliss will be joined by a mystery guest on this week’s edition of “A Moment of Bliss” on Friday Night SmackDown.

“Alexa Bliss will roll out the red carpet for a marquee guest on ‘A Moment of Bliss’ this Friday night. The identity of the guest remains a mystery but promises to have the blue brand abuzz."
“Who will Bliss reveal as the mystery guest for the much-anticipated episode of ‘A Moment of Bliss?’ Tune in to Friday Night SmackDown on FOX at 8/7 C to find out who will join the always controversial talk show.”

As is usually the case when WWE announces an appearance from a mystery guest/Superstar, WWE fans on social media have been trying to predict who the marquee name could be.

Is a WWE Superstar set to return after a lengthy absence? Will Stephanie McMahon reappear on WWE television to make a groundbreaking announcement?

Or, much like when Elias was revealed to be “the biggest acquisition in SmackDown history”, is WWE trolling its own audience by using words like “marquee” and “abuzz” in this Alexa Bliss segment preview?

Without further ado, let’s take an educated guess at who Alexa Bliss could be joined by on this week’s “A Moment of Bliss”.

5 Stephanie McMahon joins Alexa Bliss

The first all-women’s pay-per-view in WWE history, Evolution, was widely viewed as the best PPV of 2018, but WWE decided not to go ahead with an Evolution 2 in 2019.

WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon told talkSPORT’s Alex McCarthy last December that she was pushing for another Evolution event and she hoped to make an announcement at some stage.

Now, with WWE’s women’s divisions stacked on all three major brands – RAW, SmackDown and NXT – the company has more than enough talent to produce another contender for PPV of the Year with female Superstars.

It is going to be difficult for Alexa Bliss to interview someone who fits into the “marquee name” category, but Stephanie McMahon would certainly bring some much-needed star power to SmackDown right now.

WWE’s announcement about the Alexa Bliss segment also mentioned that the blue brand will be set abuzz by this guest, and confirmation of a second Evolution event would definitely tick that box.

4 Trish Stratus joins Alexa Bliss

The Horror Show at WWE Extreme Rules will feature Asuka vs. Sasha Banks for the RAW Women’s Championship and Bayley vs. Nikki Cross for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Beyond that, WWE has already planted the seeds for a RAW Women’s Championship match between Asuka and Kairi Sane in the near future, while Bayley will almost certainly head into SummerSlam as SmackDown Women’s Champion if she retains against Alexa Bliss' best friend, Nikki Cross, on Sunday.

Realistically, if Cross (w/Alexa Bliss) fails to win, that could leave Bayley and Banks needing new opponents after Extreme Rules, which is where WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus and Lita come in.

Vince McMahon is apparently not fond of his Superstars promoting matches that they cannot deliver, so we would be foolish to ignore Bayley’s recent SummerSlam proposal on Twitter.

As you can see below, the SmackDown Women’s Champion tweeted that she wants to join forces with Banks at SummerSlam to face Stratus and Lita.

Could we see Stratus or Lita appear, perhaps via video link, with Alexa Bliss to answer Bayley’s challenge?

3 Lacey Evans joins Alexa Bliss

Would Lacey Evans be an underwhelming “marquee” guest for Alexa Bliss on this week’s SmackDown? Yes, without a doubt, but that’s the point!

The Karaoke Showdown between Evans, Dana Brooke, Tamina and Naomi on last week’s episode has gone down as one of the worst segments in modern-day WWE – even worse than Alexa Bliss and Bayley's "This Is Your Life" parody on RAW in 2017.

Last year, WWE teased that Vince McMahon would welcome “the biggest acquisition in SmackDown history” to the blue brand on the second night of the Superstar Shake-Up after WrestleMania 35. That person turned out to be Elias, who was promptly interrupted by Roman Reigns.

One year later, it would not be at all surprising if WWE used a similar tactic with Alexa Bliss' guest. Besides, Evans appeared to suddenly turn heel during the Karaoke Showdown and it is clear that her rivalry with Naomi is just getting started.

“A Moment of Bliss” is usually used to further other Superstars’ storylines, so perhaps Evans can play the role of Elias by claiming to Alexa Bliss that she is the biggest marquee name in the women’s division.

2 Mickie James joins Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss' former tag team partner Mickie James underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in July 2019 and she is yet to return to WWE television as an in-ring competitor.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet earlier in July, the five-time WWE Women’s Champion and one-time WWE Divas Champion said she has been cleared to return to action. However, she has not been present at the Performance Center because she does not want to take any COVID-19 risks if she is not needed on any shows right now.

“There’s no need to take that risk of going there if I’m not doing anything. I would rather bide my time and wait for the perfect opportunity.”

A former ally and enemy of Alexa Bliss, James is certainly a marquee name in WWE and it would make sense for her to be reintroduced to WWE programming in a storyline with the host of “A Moment of Bliss”.

After all, Alexa Bliss was known for betraying her best friends, including James, before aligning with Nikki Cross in 2019, so there is a ready-made storyline in place if WWE decides to go down that route.

1 Bayley (w/Sasha Banks) joins Alexa Bliss

Looking through social media, plenty of WWE fans are speculating that former Impact Wrestling star and current free agent Tessa Blanchard could be Alexa Bliss’ guest.

Realistically, news of Blanchard signing with WWE would likely have been leaked by now if she is debuting on this week's SmackDown, which is why she does not appear as one of the five contenders in this list.

Bayley, on the other hand, is probably the most likely active WWE Superstar who could appear on this week’s “A Moment of Bliss”.

She is set to defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Alexa Bliss’ tag team partner, Nikki Cross, at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules, so they will inevitably cross paths one last time before the pay-per-view.

If you were underwhelmed by the Lacey Evans prediction, you will definitely be underwhelmed by this one.

But, Bayley being Bayley and Sasha Banks being Sasha Banks, the villainous SmackDown duo are never going to pass up an opportunity to have a heated exchange with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, so don’t rule this one out!
