Arsenal set a new European unwanted record despite qualifying for the quarter finals

Arsenal football club of England were in action on Thursday night at the Emirates Stadium against Pedro Martin's led Olympiacos team in the second leg of the UEFA Europa league round of 16 ties.

The host despite their three goals to one away win in the first leg, they were not the very best side of the night with the visitor having dominion over them.

The Mikel Arteta's side have not really been impressive I'm their recent run of form across all competitions as they have now conceded in each of their last 11 matches across all competitions - their longest run without a clean sheet since a stretch of 14 matches without a shut out between October - December 2019.

Arsenal with their 3-1 away lead into the match conceded a second half goal which was as a result of their poor tactical displays.

Youssef El Arabi scored the opening goal of the night in the 51st minutes of the second half after all efforts by both sides to break the deadlock in the first half proved abortive.

El Arabi took the lead for the visitor after an intensed and entertaining goalless first half to make it one nil to boost the visitor's hope with a 3-2 aggregate, having loose the first leg three goals to one.

After several attempts to add to the tally of the night, none was able to found the back of the net as it ended one nil at full time.

With the defeat of the night Arsenal have now set a new unwanted record in European competition.

Arsenal have lost each of their previous two home games against Olympiacos (in the 2015-2016 UEFA champions league and in this competition last season) - the Gunners have never lost three consecutive home matches against an opponent in European competition.

With this previous record, the Mikel Arteta's side have now lost their three consecutive home games matches against Olympiacos in European competition, with the defeat of the night making it the third.

Despite the defeat, Arsenal are now through to the quarter finals of the UEFA Europa league with their 3-2 aggregate, and as such be looking forward to who to face next when the draws are made on Friday.
