Chelsea sits Top of the Premier League table with 16 points after 7 matches played so far this 2021/22 season. The blues opened their title race campaign with so much ferocity, downing teams like Arsenal and Tottenham with clean sheets as well as holding an in-form Liverpool to a stalemate with 10-men.
Their first loss came at the hand of Manchester City, but two wins after that meant they would surpass the defending Champions once again to take the lead at the top of the table. They beat Southampton 3-1 this past weekend to reach this height and their lead was secured when Liverpool was held to a 2-2 draw at Anfield by Man City yesterday.
They are in a good, but fragile spot as they only lead the top five by an average of 2 points with Liverpool being the only club in the top four behind them with just a point. However, they face a side in their next fixture that could see them lose this 'fragile' spot. A side that has a recent record of holding down big teams or in stunning case scenarios, beating them.
After the International break, the blues will face Brentford who sits just four points behind them in 7th place. This is their maiden season in the Premier League and they are swiftly making it one to remember having garnered 12 points in 7 games of which they beat sides like Arsenal, West Ham and a 3-3 thriller draw against Liverpool.
Chelsea could face a shocking defeat or a draw against this 'hot' newbies and should Tuchel make the same tactical error he made against City and Juventus where he gambled with a 3-5-2 formation that cost the two losses in a row.
Brentford is more of an attacking side and it would be difficult to come all out against them as it will leave the team vulnerable to super speed counters. Sitting back would not be the best option either given that this side is good at keeping the ball and defending at the same time, should Tuchel decide to defend, the match could very well end in a draw as we have seen in most of Brentford's fixtures which have accumulated three draws so far.
Indeed, Brentford is one of the new guys to look out for this season. Chelsea would be so wrong to underestimate them and Tuchel would have to get his tactics right if he wants to get past them with maximum points.
