Reason why Chelsea Left-backs score goals for them

Chelsea are one team that seem to be without a weakness in their squad and style of play. Thomas Tuchel has drilled his team so well defensively that keeping clean sheets in games has become a regular standard for them.

What is even more impressive about Chelsea is that they do not depend on one person for goals and can boast of a number of players in different positions who are capable of finding the back of the net for them, especially in the left back position.

The last game that they played attested to that fact. Benjamin Chilwell was the hero of the day as he smashed in a sublime volley to hand the Blues the win over Brentford and maintain their spot at the top of the EPL table.

The left back position has been a major source of goals for Chelsea for some time now. Since the start of last season, Chilwell and Marcos Alonso have scored a total of 8 goals between them for the club (5 goals for Chilwell, 3 goals for Alonso).

The reason for this is because these players are always given the license to drive forward and join the attack at will. Chilwell and Alonso score a lot of goals for Chelsea because they find themselves in the box most times when the team are on the attack.

Thomas Tuchel's 3-at-the-back system allows the left backs to roam forward when they want because there is always an aggressive left center back to cover for them (mostly Rudiger, Chalobah and recently Malang Sarr).
