President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria Frank Orbih has assured that the 4-man committee set up by the Nigeria Olympic Committee to resolve the crisis in the Athletics Federation of Nigeria will do a thorough job.
Orbih made the declaration after meeting with the two factions on Thursday and Friday in Abuja.
The Badminton President who is also Chairman of the Resolution Committee said that the current face-off in the Athletics Federation is not good for sports generally and promised that the committee will work assiduously to ensure that the environment is conducive for athletes to perform and sports, to thrive.
“It is unfortunate the way things have gone. It’s a very negative press for sports generally. It doesn’t send a good message. We have held marathon meetings and met with members of both sides. We will do our best to look for ways we could achieve a peaceful resolution”.
The committee which is expected to submit its report this week also comprises of the President of the Taekwondo Federation of Nigeria Mrs Margaret Binga, NOC board member Dr Toyin Aluko and Emmanuel Nweri who is the committee’s secretary.
