Nigerian international and former Liverpool football club of England star, Taiwo Awoniyi was in action on Thursday night for Union Berlin in their second game of the Group E UEFA Europa League against Maccabi Haifa at the Alte Foersterei.
The 24 years old forward maestro was impressive in the show of the night despite starting the game from the bench due to tactical reason, as he came on to net a crucial goal which was instrumental in the massive three goals to nil scoreline at full time.
Taiwo Awoniyi was brought on into the game in the 73rd minute for Kevin Behrens and only took him three minutes on the pitch of play to found the back of the net.
The host in the first half opened the scoring sheet in the 33rd minute with a goal from Voglsammer to make it one nil which was the only goal that separated the two sides going into the half time break.
The host in the second half stepped up their game as they put up more dazzling skills and as such doubled their lead in the 48th minute with a goal from Kevin Behrens to make it two goals to nil, before Taiwo Awoniyi made it three for the host in the 76th minute.
After several attempts from both sides to add more to the tally of the night, all were not successful as it ended three goals to nil at full time.
The win for Union Berlin has now taken them to the 3rd spot on the table with 3 points, levelled with 2nd place Slavia Prague and as such be hoping to keep the winning streaks going in their next fixture so as to continue their pursuit in the competition.
Taiwo Awoniyi with his goal of the night will also be optimistic to keep his brilliant run of form going for the Urs Fischer's side in their next game so as to continue helping the team.
