Mauricio Porchettino's side finally got their first victory in the UEFA Champions League tonight after they shared points with Club Brugge in their last CL outing. PSG defeated Manchester City, but their victory against City wasn't an easy one as they faught hard to hold on to their first-half 1-0 lead. Lionel Messi did well to top the lead to 2 at the 73rd minute following a brilliant one touch pass from Mbappe.
However, Porchettino's PSG needs to learn a couple of important things if they really want Messi to help them win their first UEFA Champions League trophy. These two things are listed and explained below.
1. Porchettino Needs To Teach His Players To Play More Of A Team Work Game
The French Club PSG played a good football against Manchester City, but it looked like some things were lacking and it needs to be worked on. This is about PSG selfish game pattern. Porchettino's side won the game but their win against Man City wasn't that convincing. The French side uselessed a lot of chances due to their inability to release the ball on time. Messi won a lot of ball in the Midfield area, created a couple of chances and also made some runs which could have caused City a lot more if actually PSG players were selfless enough to work with him. Neymar junior was one of the players who's performance was very frustrating to Messi. He was very selfish, it was very obvious that the Brazilian playmaker wanted to score tonight, and that was the more reason PSG didn't score much goals. Had it been City were fortunate enough to make use of their chances in both halves, this behaviour could have cost Porchettino a comfortable win against Pep Guardiola's Man City.
2. Playing A Business Football
Paris Saint German's Coach Porchettino needs to Change his tactics and also discipline some of his players by benching them, most especially Neymar. Neymar has formed being unserious as a habit each time he is playing on the pitch. His dribbles most times kills/delay counter attacks. Playing a business football means being direct and the only PSG forward who always plays a direct football is Mbappe. Messi is another serious player at PSG, his goal tonight shows how much PSG would gain from him if they understand him and work well with him on the pitch. Porchettino needs to tackle these two things if he really wants to get the best out of Messi.
