Opinion: Why Ferguson was wrong to criticize Solskjaer over Ronaldo.

The legendary manager appeared to be criticizing United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's decision to bench Cristiano Ronaldo, in a clip released after United's 1-1 draw against Everton. Many people were disappointed by United's display in that encounter and one person associated to the club who has made his mind known about the changes made by Solskjaer, is Sir Alex Ferguson.

While Sir Alex Ferguson remains the greatest manager in the history of Manchester United, which means his opinion can be respected, we still believe Solskjaer was right to ring changes against the Merseyside club and bench Ronaldo. In this article, we will analyze some major reasons why Sir Alex Ferguson, despite his experiences, was wrong to criticize his former striker, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer For benching the five times world footballer of the year.

In his words with mixed martial arts superstar, Khabib Nurmagomedov that has surfaced on social media, Sir Alex Ferguson appeared to criticize United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's decision to limit Ronaldo to a substitute role this past weekend. Ferguson, the most successful manager in United history, commented that “you should always start with your best players” in reference to Ronaldo's diminished role.

While his words might be true, I believe Solskjaer has got it right with Ronaldo because he has played in successive matches in recent times and affording him some rest time now only make sense for the future success of the club. The fact that a team want to win at all cost doesn't say they should overwork their talisman.

In other words, in his past clubs, Ronaldo was used to being bench for crucial matches or UEFA Champions League, therefore, being benched at United doesn't mean anything to him. Furthermore, the starting Eleven presented by Solskjaer for the game are good enough to secure all three points. The fact that United have all these quality players doesn't mean they have what it takes to win all matches.

In fact, they have struggled in recent times to win football games, which means Ferguson should have addressed what are the causes of United's inability to dominate games. United might not win, but Solskjaer was right to bench Cristiano Ronaldo and others for the Everton game.
