A club's success depends on a lot of factors, but it mainly depends on the kind of players in the squad and who is managing the team.
The club lost faith in Frank after a series of defeats, then they signed former Paris Saint-Germain manager, Thomas Tuchel. Before Tuchel's signing, Frank mentioned that the Chelsea squad could not compete for titles.
Thomas Tuchel came into the squad, and helped Chelsea win a Champions League trophy. The last time The Blues were able to achieve such a feat was in 2012, which was their first UCL trophy.
While Thomas Tuchel is a great manager, he can not play the games himself. Here are 6 players that he needs to make Chelsea a successful club;
The Senegalese goalkeeper has proved himself to be one of the best in the game. Though he lacks the ability to save penalties like Kepa Arrizabalaga, his quick reflexes and long reach is one of the reasons why it is difficult to score against Chelsea.
Rüdiger delivers strong tackles that help stop the opposition attack. He can be quite aggressive, but that is helpful in disrupting the attack. Rüdiger can also make forward runs to start the attack for Chelsea.
Reece James came from Chelsea's academy, and is one of Chelsea's best players currently in the senior team. He has speed, strength and is good at making crosses into the box. He can join the attack and can help defend.
Kante is one of the best midfielders in the game currently. He can cover a lot of grounds on the pitch and he never gets tired. Kante's presence is always felt on the pitch and it causes problems for the other teams.
While Chilwell has been on the bench for most games Chelsea has played this season, he remains the best player to fill that position at the club.
Mason Mount was also a player in Chelsea's academy. Frank Lampard really helped Mason Mount to become the player he is today. Mason Mount can give a defence splitting pass, and creates chances for Chelsea. He is also not scared to go for goal himself when he gets the opportunity.
