Chelsea star player has made a shocking revelation that he almost quit the Stamford bridge outfit under former club manager Frank Lampard. The blues legend was relieved of his coaching duties at Chelsea towards the end of January, following a poor run of results which saw the blues languish in 10th position prior to his dismissal.
Lampard will go on to be replaced by current team manager Thomas Tuchel, with German successfully turning around things at Stamford bridge, as he is currently on a a 13 game unbeaten strick in charge of his team.
Not just has Tuchel improved the performance and results of Chelsea since taking over, a couple of fringe players now have a breathe of fresh air under the German tactician.
Recall that during the Lampard era this season, some big name players were frozen out of the team and starved of first team opportunities under his regime, and one of such players who was affected is no other than defender Andreas Christensen.
The 24 year old Denmark defender went on to reveal that he almost quit Chelsea due to lack of first team opportunities, as he was limited to just 5 appearances under Frank Lampard.
Christensen added that one of the reason for thinking of leaving Chelsea, was due to his ambition of playing at the Euro's for his country Denmark.
The defender has now had a change in fortunes under Thomas Tuchel, as he had been heavily relied on by the German in the heart of Chelsea's three man defense which have kept a handful of cleansheets so far.
He had this to say about life under his former manager,
“Yes, I know. Obviously, it looked pretty bad. There weren’t many minutes in sight, but I know how fast football can go".
He went on to admit that despite not having much minutes, he was still very positive about his situation at Chelsea, and also had the European championship in mind.
“Now, thankfully, it went my way this time, but yes, during that difficult time I had the European Championship in mind because I want to play".
“But I also knew that if I came to think of it too much, then it could also have a bad effect if I then get the chance and have to be ready. Because I feel the responsibility is on me. If I’m not ready when the chance comes, it’s my own fault. So, I have always had the next match more in mind than the European Championship".
How impressed have you been with Andreas Christensen under Thomas Tuchel?
Please do well to like and follow for more Chelsea updates thanks.
