Without much doubts, Barcelona football club will be looking to win more trophies during the 2021/2022 season after an eventful summer transfer window.
The Camp Nou side added some players during the summer so as to boost their chances of competing with the likes of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid for the La Liga trophy.
However, that has not quite gone to plan just yet as Barcelona are currently sitting in 9th position on the La Liga table after a disappointing start to the season.
Coupled with that, Barcelona have also conceded a whopping 15 goals in the 12 league matches they have played so far and are now looking to fix their defensive issues.
And if reports are anything to go by, then the Blaugrana club are looking to sign Chelsea right-back Cesar Azpilicueta when the transfer window opens.
The veteran right-back was heavily involved during the 2020/2021 season where he scored one goal and recorded three assists as Chelsea lifted the UEFA Champions League.
Cesar Azpilicueta has also started the ongoing 2021/2022 season on a good note and has provided three assists in 13 appearances, helping Chelsea to first position on the Premier League table.
But then, the veteran right-back has less than a year left on his current contract with Chelsea and having not signed an extension yet, he could now be keen on leaving the club next year.
And according to reports from Daily Mail, Barcelona are monitoring his contract situation at Chelsea and are ready to sign him on a free transfer next year.
It is believed that Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez wants to further strengthen his defensive options and will make a move for Cesar Azpilicueta when he runs down his current contract next summer.
That said, it remains to be seen if the Cesar Azpilicueta will have a change of mind and extend his Chelsea contract or he will be interested in a new challenge next year.
