Ole Gunner Solskjaer held his press conference yesterday’s afternoon with David de gea ahead of their first UCL match of the season against BSC Young Boys tonight.
The United manager heaped a lot of praise to his team for their wonderful performance against Newcastle United last Saturday.
He was asked what he thinks about Paul Pogba’s assist tally in EPL this season by the pressers and he said, “what does an assist consist of? A square pass to Bruno and he puts it in the top corner? Or a great ball for Mason? Paul has always been a great passer and he's not got assists from his best passes this season."
He went on to praise the French midfielder, "I don't pay attention to assists, it's a social media thing. But Paul [Pogba] has played well for sure."
The Norwegian was trying to point out that Paul Pogba has been a great of football but has not gotten credit from that because he’s yet to get an assist from those brilliant passes. In the other hand he was praising Pogba because of his general performance so far this season.
Social media has taken his quote out of context and has been criticizing the Norwegian for publicly throwing his best player under the bus.
