The Matchday 8 of 2021/2022 Premier League season was back once again after the international break with lots of teams in action. The most interesting fixture of them all was the game between Leicester City and Manchester United at the King Power Stadium which ended 4-2 in favor of Leicester City.
Chelsea defeated the newly promoted side Brentford by a lone goal courtesy of England left-back Ben Chilwell after firing in a brilliant shot into the back of the net. Claudio Raineri Watford was humbled 5-0 by Liverpool with Firmino, Salah, and Sadio Mane registering goals in the match.
At the end of those fixtures, some teams and players made history following their astounding performances. Today, we shall be looking at four(4) histories made in the English Premier League over the weekend by clubs and players.
1. Sadio made EPL History as an African.
Sadio Mane opened the scoring for Liverpool as he slotted in a lovely pass from Mohamed Salah in the 9th minute of the match against Watford. It was his 100 EPL goal and also became the first African in the history of the Premier League to score 100 goals without any of them coming from a penalty kick.
2. Liverpool's 3 or More Goals EPL History
Liverpool hammered Watford 5-0 with Brazilian striker Firmino scoring a hat trick. Mohamed Salah scored a wonder in the 54th minute of the game after beating four Watford players before firing in a right-footed shot past Ben Foster.
The win for Liverpool meant that they are the first top elite team to score 3 or more goals in eight consecutive games across all competitions. It was a superb performance from the Reds as Firmino's hat trick made him the second player in the Club's history to score a hat trick against Watford after Mohamed Salah.
3. Daka becomes First Zambian to Score in the EPL
Patson Daka was on the score sheet against Manchester United as he slotted in the last goal of the match for Leicester deep into the second half. The goal made Patson Daka the first Zambian to score an EPL goal in the history of the league. It was a glorious day for the Zambian international.
4. ) Chelsea made London derby history.
Chelsea FC was in action against Brentford in one of their London derbies after defeating Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. They scored one goal past Brentford in their late kick-off match to become the first London team to win seven successive London derbies.
