His name is Qhaphela Gobodo! The moment he became the first black child to be given the rugby scholarship, he was burned by his classmates in 2016. Some four kids walked behind him from the school and hit him on the head. Qaphela collapsed immediately. He was returning from the toilets.
Paraffin or thinner was poured all over his body, and he was set on fire. An ambulance was called to Paarl Hospital and he hurriedly taken for treatment. He was immediately transferred to Tygerberg Hospital because they couldn't provide the required care to him at Paarl. From 13 September 2016 to 27 December 2016, he was hospitalized.
The explanation for all this is that he earned a bond in Pretoria from Hoerskool Garsfontein. Qaphela turns out to be the only Black man Decent in his school at rugby, and he's the best of his team-mates. He was visited all of the time by his teacher and relatives. He didn't get any warmth or encouragement when he came back to school this year, as he had expected, but became a laughing stock.
He didn't care what was said or felt about his presence by his peers. Everything he wanted was to recover, to be able to go back to the field and do his best, to play rugby!!! He's made a remarkable recovery and still just enjoys Rugby. As you can imagine, after 20 surgeries, he has been feeling sad lately. By sharing this message, show him some affection.
He is also a Motivational Speaker and inspires other young people, regardless of what they are going through, not to give up. Since then, he has returned to playing what he does best!
What a genuinely inspiring story.
