Current Laliga Table & Match Review Ahead Of Today's Matches

Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad

Real Madrid is set to pursue another consecutive triumph in La Liga as they pursue their domestic campaign against Real Sociedad, who are vying for a spot in the top four, on Tuesday night.

Currently occupying second place in the table, with an 11-point deficit to league leaders Barcelona, Real Madrid will look to maintain their winning streak. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad is currently in fourth place, eight points ahead of Villarreal in fifth place.

Real Sociedad bounced back strongly after their defeat in the Basque derby against Athletic Bilbao on April 15, garnering an impressive seven points from their last three league fixtures. In addition to beating Rayo Vallecano and Osasuna, they also secured a draw against Real Betis. Their recent success was further enhanced by a 2-0 win over Osasuna on Friday, where Sergio Herrera's own goal put the visitors in front, and Takefusa Kubo scored their second in the latter stages of the game.

Real Sociedad currently sit at fourth place in the table, enjoying an eight-point lead over Villarreal, who occupy the fifth position. However, Villarreal will have a chance to narrow the gap to five points ahead of the upcoming match.

Barcelona vs Osasuna

Barcelona aims to take a significant stride towards clinching the La Liga championship as they play host to Osasuna, the Copa del Rey finalists, at Camp Nou on Tuesday night. Currently, the Catalan team sits at the top of the league table, boasting an 11-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Osasuna occupies the eighth position, trailing behind sixth-placed Real Betis by five points.

After a surprising 2-1 loss to Rayo Vallecano the previous week, Barcelona bounced back and secured a 4-0 triumph over Real Betis at Camp Nou last Saturday. Not only did they have an impressive scoreline, but the team also welcomed back Andreas Christensen and Ousmane Dembele from their injuries. Additionally, 15-year-old Lamine Yamal made his first-team debut and became the youngest player in the club's history, coming off the bench for a late outing.

Xavi's squad has amassed 79 points from 32 games played in the current season, putting them 11 points ahead of Real Madrid, who have played the same number of matches. With such a commanding lead, it would take an extraordinary turn of events for Barcelona not to clinch the league title this season.
