OPINION: If Messi Could Keep His Cool Amid Poor Run Of Games, Then Cr7 Doesn't Deserve Much Respect.

Manchester United suffered a catastrophic 5-0 defeat at the hands of their fiercest rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford with Sir Alex Ferguson and the mammoth home crowd looking stunned by the scoreline in what should have been a close contest. It was the second time since the start of the new campaign that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men have conceded four or more goals.

Mohamed Salah singlehandedly dismantled the Red Devils with a superb hat trick on the night as the Manchester United defense was shredded into pieces right before their very eyes. Solskjaer's tactics and poor defensive woes were called into questioning following such humiliation on their home turf. The goal took his tally to 106 as the All time African highest goalscorer in the Premier League.

However, in addition to the shock defeat, their summer signing Cristiano Ronaldo was a disappointment on the night following his unprofessional behavior towards a youngster whom he should be nurturing and not bullying when you consider his achievements and role in society. He was seen kicking a helpless Curtis Jones who tried to guide the ball away for a goal kick with the Liverpool players squaring up against him for such irrational behavior.

Yes, one would say he was angry and frustrated at the same time and I agree, but such behavior shouldn't come from a five-time Ballon d'Or winner and one of the greatest of all time. What then would have been his reaction if he were Lionel Messi who went on five games without a single goal nor assist despite his track record of scoring great goals. Also, despite the pressure to prove a point after leaving FC Barcelona and with his poor form, he still didn't behave least inappropriately.

Lionel Messi finally broke the deadlock against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League with a screamer but is yet to score a single goal in the French Ligue 1. That hasn't stopped the Argentine from showing great humility to both his teammates and opponents. With such arrogance from the Portuguese international, he, therefore, doesn't deserve much respect from football fans except he tenders an apology to the youngster. He should borrow a leaf from the diminutive Argentine and understand that in life, there are always ups and downs.
