The Red Devils are aiming to secure Champions League football next season but are currently fourth in the Premier League table.
Erik ten Hag's Reds are already out of this season's Europa League contest, so they cannot avoid to finish below fourth this season, if they are to return to the Champions League next season.
Newcastle United are currently above Manchester United in the Premier League standings but the Red Devils has a one match advantage over the Magpies.
However, Manchester United will play their one match outstanding against Brighton Hove Albion tonight but are going to be without a number of key players.
Garnacho, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Donny Van de beek and Scott Mctominay are all ruled out of the Premier League clash at the Amex. Leaving the likes of Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw to pair at centre-back.
Nevertheless, let's quickly take a look at the three reasons why Man United could miss out on Champions League qualification and end up in the Europa League next season.
1. Poor run of away results
Manchester United have taken only one point from their seven Premier League away fixtures this season against other teams currently in the top nine of the table, conceding 27 goals.
The Reds Devils still has seven Premier League games to play before the season ends and those fixtures includes, away games against Brighton, West Ham and Bournemouth.
2. EPL trip to Brighton
The Red Devils are winless in their last three competitive fixture against Brighton and have not scored a single goal in their last three meetings.
Brighton won the EPL opener against Manchester United back in August but lost the FA Cup semi-final against the Red Devils but were the better team overall at Wembley.
3. Defensive crisis
Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw has both been paired alongside Victor Lindelof in the absence of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane but the Red Devils has conceded a total six goals in just two matches.
Brighton, West Ham, Chelsea, Fulham, Bournemouth and Wolves could exploit Man United's defensive woes and that might cause a major upset in their top four challenge.
