Premier League

Ranking the Top 10 best midfielders in the EPL based on current form

10) Ruben Neves

Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves has proved to be one of the most consistent midfielders in the English Premier league in recent years. His fine performances for Wolves since joining from Porto a few years back has also seen him linked with a big money move to the likes of Manchester united and Arsenal in recent seasons.

9) Granit Xhaka

One of the most improved players in the English Premier league this season, Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka has shown why Arsenal were keen to tie him down to a new contract at the Emirates stadium earlier this season. The 29 year old has been a catalyst to the Gunners recent renaissance and will be an important figure for Mikel Arteta's side going forward.

8) Mateo Kovacic

A proven winner at Real Madrid, Mateo Kovacic has shown how reliable and dependable he can be in midfield when given constant playing time. The Croatian has started the 2021/2022 season on fire and has been one of the blues top preforming players this campaign.

7) Rodri

While it has taken Spanish midfielder Rodri quite some time to adjust to the English Premier league, the former Atletico Madrid man has proven why Pep Guardiola was so desperate to bring him to the Etihad stadium.

Rodri has earned plaudits for his performances for Manchester city this season and is one of the most important players in Pep Guardiola's squad.

6) Fabinho

Brazilian midfielder Fabinho seems to have silenced his doubters for good since a poor first season at Liverpool. The former Monaco man has been a key player to Liverpool success down the years and has played no small part in their fantastic unbeaten run so far this season.

5) Ngolo Kante

Chelsea midfielder Ngolo Kante occupies no 5 spot on our list. The Frenchman has shown how good he can be for Chelsea since joining from Leicester city back in 2015 with his performances in the heart of midfield earning him praises from pundits, spectators and even opposition players.

Kante's performance was one of the reasons why the blues won the Uefa champions league last season and the Frenchman looks ready to propel his side to another major title this campaign.

4) Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba form might have dropped since his stunning start to the season, but the Frenchman still occupies No 4 position on our list. The 28 year old has been a main stay in midfield for Old Gunner Solskjaer's men and is one of the most creative and influential midfielders in the English Premier league and the world.

5) Jorginho

Having received constant criticism earlier in his time at Chelsea, Its safe to say that Italian midfielder Jorginho has shut the mouth of his critics with his performances in recent seasons.

The 29 year old has proven to be one of the most influential midfield players in the English Premier league and in the world in general which leaves him in No 3 position on our list. This man needs to be appreciated more often.

2) Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De bruyne has proven to be the most consistent midfielder in the English Premier league for quite a good number of years now. The Belgian midfielder who is one of the most technically gifted players in the world possesses all the tools necessary to be a world class midfielder and have proven overtime how influential he can be in midfield for Pep Guardiola's side.

1) Bruno Fernandes

Alot of persons might disagree with me on this one but Bruno Fernandes is currently the undisputed no 1 midfielder in the English Premier league.

The Portuguese has needed no time or whatsoever to cope with the rigorous demands of the premier league and has proved to be one of the best signings in the league in recent years. Even if you don't like this man, you cannot but admit he has been the most consistent and best midfield player in the EPL since joining Manchester united in January 2020.
