Mohamed Salah might be the player making headlines in football right now after his performance in Liverpool's win yesterday but a few Chelsea players are also in the spotlight after their wonderful performance against Brentford in the EPL. Edouard Mendy is one of such players and he was awarded the man of the match award after he singlehandedly secured a point for the blues against Brentford. Other players who played a big role for Chelsea yesterday and is not being talked about enough are Trevor Chalobar, Malang Share and Andreas Christensen.
All 3 players are below the age of 25 and another surprising fact was that they all cost Chelsea ₦0 each. Yes, the Blues paid no money at all to secure their signatures. Christensen is a product of the Chelsea Cobham academy and so is Trevor Chalobar. Malang Sarr on the other hand was signed on a free transfer from Nice two seasons ago and he was on loan at Porto last season. Malang Sarr in particular had an excellent outing yesterday, putting in a game high 16 interceptions and tackles.
It was thought that Chelsea would struggle against Brentford with Rudiger and Thiago Silva out but these 3 players performances yesterday was an encouraging one for Thomas Tuchel. Chelsea have a run of easy fixtures from now til the next few weeks and Tuchel would give these players another chance to impress and win a place in the Chelsea first team. Ben Chilwell was the player who scored the winning goal for Chelsea in their game against Brentford.
