Opinion: Why Manchester United Second Team Is Strong Enough To Challenge For Trophies

The quality and depth of Manchester United's present squad is really scary for other teams as their first and second eleven would be able to give any big team a run for their money.

Manchester United's first team once Rashford returns, Manchester United could include him, Ronaldo, and Greenwood (who should be preferred over Sancho) in the attack. Pogba and Bruno Fernandes have surely stamped their names in the starting line up so McTominay should be the perfect defensive midfield option for the team once he is fully fit.

Manchester United's current back line of Shaw , Wan Bissaka, Varane and Maguire are also unchangeable and De Gea is slowly returning to his best. That leaves a frightening second eleven of Henderson, Bailly, Lindelof, Telles, Dalot, Fred, Matic or Van de Beek, Lingard, Sancho, Martial and Cavani. A second eleven that might even be able to challenge for the title.

With this kind of second eleven, Manchester United should have no problem with winning at least one domestic trophy as most Fa Cup and Carabao Cup matches are played by second elevens.

On a closer look, you will notice that some other names like Diallo, Hannibal and Tom Heaton are missing, this means that in case of an injury to either of the selections, Manchester United reserves could still easily fill the gap and still be a top side.
