Chelsea's Edouard Mendy has opened up on his team's recent success in the UEFA Champions League and has said the achievements still feels like a dream. The Senegalese goalkeeper became the First African shot stopper to win the most prestigious trophy in European football, he also set some records along the way.
Mendy kept 9 clean-sheets, which is the highest ever kept in a Champions League winning campaign. He might have made it 10, if not for an injury time goal scored by Porto in the second leg of their quarter final game.
Mendy: "What we've achieved this season is quite exceptional, I still feel like I am living a daydream (fantasy). I gave myself the means to experience this type of match and I will take it as a reward for myself and my family, all the people who were there when things were bad."
The goalkeeper was also full of praise for Peter Cech who convinced Chelsea to push for his signature. He says the UEFA Champions League is the pinnacle and that Frank Lampard and Jody Morris who believed in him and gave him a chance at Chelsea are also responsible for the success.
