His father died in 2005, his second year with Manchester United.

Since childhood, his mother has always been supportive of Cristiano. Mrs. Aveiro was born on the 31st of December, 1954 (65 years old) and was married to Ronaldo's father till 2005. Since his father gave up the ghost, she has always stood by his son at all times. Recently she was discharged from an hospital after surviving stroke.
