The Uefa Nations League Semi-finals is in its last stage today with France going against Belgium in the other leg. Yesterday, Italy faced Spain for the second time this year in the same fixture that they were in the Euro 2020s.
Italy who had defeated Spain through penalties in the Semi-finals of the Euros, we're looking to extend their 37-game unbeaten run with a win at San Siro yesterday, but a precise and organised Spanish team held them to a 2-0 loss to book a place in the finals.
Between the two countries, about 4 Chelsea players featured against each other as the two Titan countries clashed. Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso against Euro winner and Uefa player of the year Jorginho as well as Emerson led their team against each other for a place in the finals.
In the end, It was Azpilicueta and Marcus Alonso who won the battle while Jorginho and Emerson were knocked out as Spain beat Italy 2-1 via a Ferran Torres brace and a Chiesa-Pellegrini effort who put one back for the azurri's few minutes to stoppage time.
Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are the only two Chelsea stars currently in the Uefa Nations League finals. Spain ended Italy's unbeaten run and probably Italy got to the finals and ended up winning the title, Jorginho might have come out on top of the ballon D'or contenders list.
Other Chelsea players capable of facing Azpilicueta and Alonso in the finals are Kante and Lukaku as France takes on Belgium in the other Semi-final leg today by 7:45 pm Nigerian time. Though it remains to see if Kante would be available for France given his covid affliction a week back, but it can almost be certain that Lukaku would once again be the target man for the Red Devils of Belgium.
