Barcelona's 2021 Summer Signings Versus Their 2022 Summer Signings

In the 2021 sumer transfer window, Ronald Koeman brought in players to strength the Barcelona squad. However, the signings failed to help Barcelona compete in the 2021/22 season. This explained why Barcelona struggled in the beginning of the season. When Xavi took over the managerial seat, he made incredible signings in the winter transfer window and this helped Barcelona to finish in the second position. Among the six signings made by Koeman in the 2021 summer transfer window, four of them no longer play for Barcleona.

However, Luuk de Jong was signed on loan and he returned back to Sevilla at the end of his loan before the Spanish club sold him this summer. Furthermore, Emerson Royal wasn't given a chance to thrive at Camp Nou and was immediately sold to Tottenham Hotspur. While Sergio Aguero terminated his contract with Barcelona due to health issues. The only two players from 2021 summer transfer window who are still active in the club is Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia. Both players are part of the first team squad under Xavi Hernandez.

Nevertheless, Barcelona have been very active in the 2022 summer transfer window. They have already signed five players so far. The signed Franck Kessie and Christensen on free transfer. While they spent over 150 million Euros to acquire the services of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde. It is obvious that Barcelona squad is looking stronger than it was last season. The Spanish club are not yet done with signing as they want to continue their rebuilding process by bringing in more Defenders. Between 2021 and 2022 summer transfer windows, which one did Barcelona made the best business?
