UEFA Champions League

Oshoala had a goal ruled out as Barcelona beat Chelsea 4-0 to win the women's UEFA champions league

Chelsea have lost a second final in twenty four hours after they were beaten by FC Barcelona women's team in the UEFA champions league.

This weekend could not have gone any worse for Chelsea than it did in this evening's UEFA champions league final between Chelsea women and Barcelona women.

After the men's team lost the FA cup final to Leicester City yesterday, many fans had hoped that tonight would bring some respite to the club, but it wasn't to be.

In the match against Nigeria's Asisat Oshoala who was part of the Barcelona team tonight, Chelsea fell behind after just thirty three seconds thanks to an own goal scored by Niam Charles.

Chelsea never recovered from conceding that early goal and soon conceded another after Alexia Putellas added a second for Barcelona in the thirteenth minute. Barcelona continued to press on and added two more through Aitana Bonmati and Caroline Hanson in the 20th and 36th minutes respectively.

Chelsea's defense could not handy Barcelona's wingers, especially Martens who was virtually unplayable for the entirety of the match and played important roles in three of the goals.

This is the second time Chelsea have lost a trophy to a team that had Nigerian players playing for them after they lost to Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho's Leicester City yesterday. Asisat Oshoala played tonight for FC Barcelona and had a goal ruled out late in the match because her teammate was offside in the build up to the goal.

Congratulations to Oshoala and the FC Barcelona entirely on their deserved victory tonight.
