Arsenal couldn't survive the test of Villarreal as they were beaten 2-1 in the semi-final of Europa League on Thursday night.
Arsenal suffered an early goal through Trigueros's master class shot. Arsenal were played front and back and Villarreal should have scored more.
Arsenal's performance was the usual one that wasn't capable of beating a lower division team. Villarreal played well and they took charge of the game. Arsenal conceded the second goal in the 26th minutes. Villarreal were smashing Arsenal and Arsenal couldn't respond.
Unai Emery's boys had more chances to increase their goal tally but Arsenal managed to stay through and contain them.
Trigueros thinks Villarreal did enough on the night to kill Mikel Arteta’s side off ahead of the second leg next week.
“They have escaped us alive. It’s clear that we have won and it is a good result, but seeing how the game went, we should have killed them,” Trigueros added.
Arsenal later scored a goal in the penalty spot.
