2 things Watford could gain from refusing Liverpool's request to have their league match shifted

The current international break is not a good one for the Liverpool football club as 3 of the club's key players look likely to miss the English Premier League clash between Liverpool and Watford on Saturday afternoon. Alisson, Firmino, and Fabinho will play for the Brazilian national team and Brazil's last game will be on Friday by 1:30 am UK time and Liverpool has a match on Saturday by 12:30 pm.

Liverpool tried to change the time of the fixture from 12:30 pm to Saturday evening but Watford refused to accept such an arrangement staging that such an arrangement won't go down well with their fans who have already bought tickets. Watford's refusal to grant Liverpool their wish could benefit Watford in 2 different ways.

1. Liverpool could play the match without their three key players:

Watford will certainly be happy if the likes of Alisson, Firmino, and Fabinho are not available for selection because their absence will make Liverpool appear weaker. Alisson is arguably the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and Watford won't mind not seeing him in Liverpool's goalposts on Saturday.

Fabinho is a valuable player in the Liverpool midfield. His presence in the midfield enables other players to push forward without any fear. Watford players will be at ease if they won't have to worry about containing Fabinho on Saturday.

Firmino is another key player who could miss Liverpool's encounter with Watford. Firmino might not be scoring too many goals, however, his intelligent football and skills enable the likes of Salah and Mane to thrive upfront. Watford will benefit so much if these three Brazilians end up not playing on Saturday.

2. Watford's new coach will have a lesser number of Liverpool players to worry about:

Watford's new coach Claudio Ranieri was appointed yesterday as the new coach of Watford on a two-year deal. The fixture between Liverpool and Watford will be his first test as a Watford coach. With the quality of players at Liverpool's disposal, Ranieri will certainly feel at ease knowing that there is a good chance that Alisson, Firmino, and Fabinho may not be able to play on Saturday.

Although Ranieri and his Watford team are not expected to defeat Liverpool on Saturday, Liverpool's chances of winning Watford will decrease if Alisson, Firmino, and Fabinho fail to make it for Saturday's clash. Ranieri will be hoping to start his reign as Watford manager on a positive note and getting a point against Liverpool will be a welcomed development for him.
